Winter Market, Vendor Videos & Important Dates

With the long winter months turning the corner to slightly longer days the hope of spring starts to glimmer in the distance - especially on sunny days in Powell River.

The Winter Market has seen an incredible expansion this year.  If you haven't had a chance to check it out please do so, it's located at the Community Resource Center on Joyce Ave and runs every Saturday from 10:30-12:30 rain or shine!

You'll see many familiar faces from the summer and meet a few new ones as well.  Take some time to get to know some of the local products that local people are passionate about.

For full details and to see some of what has already happened, take a look at the Winter Market's Facebook Page.

You can see by the amount of signs that the market is flourishing.  There are vendors that line the parking lot outside:  farmers with winter produce, artisan bakers with sweet and savory delights as well as pasta, meats, eggs, local frozen berries and pies.  Inside you'll find pottery, cutting boards, candy, savory meat pies, canning, soap, gifts, health solutions and sometimes even honey.  It's worth a stroll around and a chat with the vendors.

This is the first year that the winter market is having produce all winter long, our local farmers have made provisions to ensure produce is available to the community throughout the entire winter.  This takes quite a bit of forethought and planning.  On most Saturdays you can find squash, carrots, beets, onions, garlic, potatoes, kale and herbs.

There have been some lovely videos made featuring some local businesses (and vendors) as part of the "Live & Invest in Powell River" campaign and you can check them out below:
