Plant Walk

We're very excited to offer a monthly plant walk with Ioni Wais!
Ioni on a plant walk

Ioni has a Botany Specialist Degree  from the University of Toronto and has been making Powell River his home for the past several years.  You may have seen Ioni on Shaw TV last year as they featured him on one of his plant walks.  If you listen to CJMP you may have heard Ioni on his show: Vegetation Station Sundays at 5pm.

We're pleased to announce that Ioni will be offering a monthly plant walk kicking off from our market grounds.

Oyster Mushrooms

The plant walk will consist of a 30 minute moderate walk from the Farmers' Market grounds into the forest where Ioni will share with you the delights that nature has to offer.  Some plants you may already know, but Ioni will top up information about the medicinal quality of the roots or berries, he will identify trees, bushes, plants and mushrooms and let you know what they are best known for, and how to use them as well.  Ioni has a gift for making in-depth technical information accessible to everyone.  Bring the kids, everyone will enjoy looking at our local flora with a new sense of expertise.

Shaw TV coverage of Plant Walk

Our first plant walk will be Sunday May 15th at 2pm.  Interested parties can meet at the entrance to the farmers' market (at the bottom of the parking lot).  It's a family-friendly, educational tour that will ignite your senses and it's just one more way that you can support local.

Ioni's plant walks will be by donation and everyone is welcome.

First Plant Walk:  May 15th at 2pm.
June - September:  Second Sunday of each month at 2pm.

Located at 4365 McLeod Road in beautiful Paradise Valley (Powell River), the Farmers' Market is place for all ages.  Fresh produce, baking and prepared foods help nourish your body while artisans and musicians help nourish your soul.
