March - Spring Awakening
Myrtle Point Heritage Farm is also bringing greens and their amazing honey alongside their frozen meats and goats milk soap in every scent imaginable.
Need more greens? Lori from GG's Good Greens has you covered with amazing sprouts in all shapes and sizes. You can even get a flat of wheatgrass from her. Sprouts go well in salads, on sandwiches and even as a last minute addition to stir fry. They are high in nutrients, crunch and flavour.
Coast Berry Company has got you covered with locally grown frozen blueberries and strawberries, great for your smoothies, baking or slightly thawed on cereal.
Primal Pastures had frozen meat, liver capsules and tallow-based skin care products.
If you want to try out your St Patrick's day outfit, feel free to wear it to the market on March 16th and show us your green. We'll give you an extra entry into our monthly draw to increase your chances of winning $50. That's how we roll every month, a deserving customer can win $50 in market money to spend at the market.
Farmers are starting to prepare their greenhouses and fields. If you've got some extra pots around that you won't be needing, consider asking a farmer if they can use them. Some can, some can't but it's worth a try to pass things along instead of taking them to recycling. Recycling is a great option when no one can use something anymore or it's broken. Reusable items like plant pots, garden tools, landscaping fabric or even canning jars should stay in our community and be used before they are shipped away. We can all do our part. If you can't connect with someone directly consider dropping them off at a thrift store.
Remember that we're open every Sunday from 12:30 - 2:30pm at 4365 McLeod Road. Each week we'll have a few more vendors joining us making easier to shop local. The good thing is, you don't have to ask... it's made in Canada!
Since 1987 the Powell River Farmers' Market has operated at the Exhibition Grounds providing a market place for local farmers, food vendors and artisans to gather, connect with the community and sell their products. The market is open Saturdays (May - Sept) 10:30 am - 12:30pm and Sundays (year round) 12:30pm - 2:30pm. The market is a member of the BC Association of Farmers' Markets and is proud to be a participating market in the Famers' Market Nutrition Coupon Program (June - Dec). If you'd like to become a vendor, check our Vendor Registration tab. Our Sunday Vendor tab is updated weekly to help you plan your visit.
