Fresh Food is coming.  Go Green in March If you think it's too early for greens and fresh local food, check in with the farmers' market.  Andtbaka Farm has some first greens, Texada Island nettles, eggs, storage crops like potatoes, beets, and onions and a wide variety of frozen meats.    Myrtle Point Heritage Farm is also bringing greens and their amazing honey alongside their frozen meats and goats milk soap in every scent imaginable.   Need more greens?  Lori from GG's Good Greens has you covered with amazing sprouts in all shapes and sizes.  You can even get a flat of wheatgrass from her.  Sprouts go well in salads, on sandwiches and even as a last minute addition to stir fry.  They are high in nutrients, crunch and flavour. Coast Berry Company has got you covered with locally grown frozen blueberries and strawberries, great for your smoothies, baking or slightly thawed on cereal. Primal Pastures had frozen meat, liver capsu...

Spring is here

Image
It's been a cooler start this spring and preliminary reports show that we will have reasonable summer while the rest of the country will be battling heat. If you need some tasty freshness in your life right now, locally grown produce is the most nutrient-rich and nutrient dense way to fill your body with the vitamins and minerals we all crave.  How about adding a tasty snap to your salads with colourful radishes, grated beets, microgreens and locally grown salad mixes.  Add a hard boiled local egg and you've got a quick and easy meal ready to go. If you prefer others to do the prep work, how about some wonderful frozen food to take home?  The variety never ceases to change and within a few minutes you can build an easy-to-enjoy lunch or dinner.

When is the Outdoor Market Opening?

Image
We're excited to announce our outdoor opening weekend as  May 4 & 5, 2024 . Here's a quick reminder of our operating hours If you've not been to our market before, we're always excited to welcome new shoppers or new community members, stop by the INFO booth and say hello.   If you don't like crowds, come during the 2nd hour which is always a bit quieter than the first hour.   We do ask that you leave your pets at home but there are several shady areas to park if they insist on coming with you. If you'd like to be a vendor with us this year, please see our vendor registration page .  Set aside about 15 minutes to review all the information.  It's always an exciting place to be in the spring and summer as we watch our community assemble and build stronger relationships.  No car?  No problem.  A city bus can get you as far as the airport and if you're up for a little walk that may be a great option.  The Zunga Bus is also a...

Half year habit

New Year's resolutions seem to be a focus for many people when the year rolls around.  Have you ever heard that the best day to get started with something is "today"?  Well it is.  We're half way through this year and any day can be the start of something new, something exciting, something unexpected. We've got an easy new habit for you.  Consider the Farmers' Market as a weekend destination this year.  Not only for buying fresh local food but also to see fresh local faces.  Our community is ever-changing and it's exciting to see and meet the faces you already know and the new faces that are joining us.  Many times new residents show up at the farmers' market just days after they've moved here.    This new habit may mean that you come to shop, it may be that you just come with a friend for a fresh cup of coffee or a smoothie that you can enjoy in the sun or shade in a relaxing environment.  Do you like to be in the center of the bustle?...
